Little Known Ways to Eat Less, Feel Full & Lose Weight

Summer of Healthy Eating Week Two: Slow Down

Everything tends to be a little more relaxed in the summer.  This week, I’m encouraging you to carry this over to your way of eating to slow it down too. To help you eat less, feel full and maybe even lose a little weight try these tips…

  • Start your meal with a vegetable salad or broth based soup. This has been shown to help the total calories you’ll eat for the entire meal.
  • Chew your food. If that just brought back memories from childhood… well you should have listened.  One study found that people who chewed each bite of their food at least 40 times ate fewer calories during the course of a meal. So, chew your food!
  • Learn to use chop sticks. People eat slower and less food per bite when they use chopsticks.  And no, you don’t have to eat sushi to get the benefit.  Try eating your dinner tonight with chop sticks. It’s actually kind of fun.
  • Use smaller plates and skinny glasses. Downsizing your serving ware can help you eat and drink less.  And if you decide to go for seconds, at least you’ll burn a few extra calories getting there.

All of these tips have been tested and can be added to your lifestyle with ease. Try one out and let me know what you think.

Tell me in the comments how you are slowing down this summer.
