Pear Prosecco Punch in flutesThis one is sort of a play on a mimosa. Enjoy it at a brunch party or in the evening for a holiday party.

What’s a party without bubbly?

There’s something about the fizz of a sparkling drink that puts me in a festive mood. Prosecco is a great base to use. It’s a drier sparkling wine so it’s easy to build the flavors you want without the risk of it becoming too sweet.

Pouring prosecco into the flute

I’m not encouraging anyone to hit the bottle.

However, enjoying a glass of wine or a beer in moderation is perfectly acceptable. If you drink, keep in mind that moderation is considered 1 drink per day for women and 2 per day for men. That drink is defined as a 5-ounce glass of wine, 12-ounce beer or 1½ ounces of liquor. Now, I know what you’re thinking…  No. You can’t save them all up for Friday night. This is a use ’em or lose ’em deal.

I’m sharing this cocktail as an easy option for holiday gatherings. It looks so elegant but takes just minutes to put together!

For this one, I used the pears I had leftover from my Maple Ginger Pear Crumble. You can use apples, berries, grapes or any fruit you have on hand. Add a little fresh ginger for even more flavor. I kept this one simple because the pears were super sweet and full of flavor.

And here’s a tip. Freeze the fruit to keep the drink cool longer.

You can easily make this into a mocktail using fresh ripe pureed pears or pear nectar and sparkling white grape juice or club soda.

I get the whole moderation thing, but women only get one glass? That sounds like a “man-rule”. Along the lines of we don’t want insurance to pay for your birth control, but we do want it to pay for Viagra – LOL. I’ll take two glasses of your beautiful bubbly, thank you very much!
