Thanks to my friends at Sprouts Farmers Market for sponsoring this post.

I don’t know about you but life has been incredibly BUSY lately. Between developing recipes, speaking gigs and working with clients one on one, it seems that time just flies by. I’m not complaining as I love my work. No matter what’s on the agenda, I have to start my day with breakfast. Without it, my brain just doesn’t work. Enter a quick fix!

The great thing about this Blueberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie is you can keep most of the ingredients on hand to make it anytime. And it’s forgiving. If you don’t have blueberries, try raspberries. No hemp seeds? Add chia. As long as you have the oats and kefir or your favorite milk and fruit – you’re on your way to breakfast smoothie time!

I prefer buying frozen berries during the winter when local ones are not available. These Sprouts frozen blueberries were on sale last week – so it was a no-brainer. And don’t worry. Frozen berries are just as healthy as fresh ones – and still an excellent source of antioxidants and fiber.

I’m using kefir as the base to thicken the smoothie and to add calcium, protein, and gut-friendly probiotics. I added a couple tablespoons of shelled hemp seeds for even more protein and for a dose of omega-3s.

Just like your typical morning bowl of oats, this smoothie packs in berries for sweetness, cinnamon for flavor and spice, and an optional drizzle of maple syrup to pull it all together. And just look at that color!

  2. Add remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth. Enjoy.

Recipe Notes

If you have a powerful blender, you can add all ingredients at once and blend. I just wanted to give a heads up since some blenders may need a little extra help breaking down the oats.
